Purple color with some bronzing edges, this wine shows great color for six years into its existence (reviewed 11/10/2023).  Blackberry with a hint of what beckons to soy sauce land on the nose, and there is a brown sugar element sitting in there as well to round out the experience. The tannins are still very present but softened to shape the overall experience. Flavors of fig and a bit of cola on the mid-palate. 

This Red Mountain Cabernet has distinct full-bodied supple tannins that caress the palate. A burst of fresh field berries and stone fruits greets you on the nose, along with tons of juicy/chewy dried cherry and currant flavors. The amazing finish suggests ultra-dark cherry, black licorice, vanilla bean, and toasted oak. This wine is bold and robust – exactly what you’d expect from a Washington Cab – and, at the same time, flat-out delicious. This elegant cabernet was aged in 100% French oak barrels for 26 months giving it layers of complexity and polished tannins.

Intriguing nose of green herbs, bell pepper, clove, and mint are complemented with subtle flavors of black olive and cassis on the palate. This wine is clearly more savory than fruit-forward and that makes it an outstanding choice to serve with foods such as carne asada or linguiça seasoned with cumin, cilantro or mild jalapeño..100% Red Mountain Carmenere.

Our Red Mountain Carmeñere captures the depth and intense structure found in the Red Mountain AVA. Hints of grilled jalapenos, a trademark character of this variety compliments the fruit nature of this wine. Hints of mocha, leather and clove dance on the pallet. Enjoy with lamb, steak, carne asada, peppered chicken, and salmon dishes.

This El Viñador Petit Verdot hails from the Wahluke Slope AVA, with big, bold flavors. Mostly black fruits greet you on the nose and palate, followed by tastes of plum, sage, and lilac. This is a full-bodied wine with high tannins on the finish. This Petit Verdot would pair well with bleu cheese burgers and roasted meats.

While some Petit Verdots may be overly tannic and in need of long-term cellaring, this one carries a voluptuous, silky quality that makes it instantly enjoyable. Blackberries and dark cherries dominate the nose as a cedar element runs in the undercurrent. The palate is defined by those blackberries, cocoa, and grippy tannins, with lesser floral elements present and a lengthy finish. This is a wine that will easily last 10+ years and continue to evolve across its entire life.

Sweet tobacco and cigar box aromatics are followed by layers of concentrated Italian cherry, rum raisin, and cola flavors along with nuances of leather and cedar. The mile-long finish strikes the perfect balance between silky and textured, resulting in a “wow” wine that is both instantly drinkable and a cellar-worthy choice for future enjoyment.

Sourced from the Red Mountain AVA, this incredible Syrah opens with intoxicating aromatics of violets and hazelnuts. Intense dark fruits of currant, blackberry, and Marionberry come to the forefront, along with a slice of blueberry cobbler. This wonderfully complex blend of 60-percent Grenache, 30-percent Syrah, and 10-percent Mourvèdre is brimming with wild strawberry and candied cherry fruit, followed by an underlying layer of black currant. Notes of lardo, sandalwood, black pepper, and cocoa powder come through on a soft, silky finish.

Victor Palencia’s 10th edition of Casa Amarilla, a blend that has not changed in percentages since its first vintage, the eyes are met with a dark purple color while the nose has hints of plum and cola opening to raspberry and some violets. Underneath there is a cocoa element that is nice but not overpowering. Soft tannins and black fruits give a pleasant drinking experience.

Double Gold 96 Points - Savor NW 2024

Gorgeous cherry aromatics and flavors lead off, followed by brighter raspberry, red currant, and ripe pomegranate fruit that result in great finishing acidity. With its dark color and complex structure, this is a beautifully crafted New World-style Grenache from the Yakima Valley AVA. Try it with flank steak and grilled vegetables or, for fun, a BLT with extra-crispy bacon.

Lead-off aromas of cherry and graham cracker set the stage for subtle, beautifully nuanced flavors of chocolate-cherry cordial, strawberry, caramel, and butterscotch. There’s also a whisper of smoky/earthiness on the finish reminiscent of a fine, Burgundian-style red. An extremely versatile food wine, it should pair perfectly with veal, pork shoulder, or roast beef.

100% Grenache sourced from Yakima Valley AVA. Medium-bodied with pink edges, the wine’s fingers are impressive. Fig and Dr. Pepper scents dominate the nose, with almost a roast beef element running in the background. Prune and some allspice are the key characteristics on the palate with good acidity and surprising tannins.

This full textured Syrah is aged in 100% French oak for 14 months. Sourced from Minnick Vineyards in the Yakima AVA, this seductively spicy Syrah displays hints of leather, roses, and currant all wrapped with firm supple tannins. The finish is delicately powerful and lingers with a full rich cherry coating.

100% Syrah sourced from Royal Slope AVA & aged in French oak for 14 months. Encased in a dark purple color, the nose has an umami character of balsamic vinegar with black fruits resting in the background, giving way to cherries as the wine continues to open. On the palate you will find blackberries with cocoa with firm but not overpowering tannins. A lengthy finish of what amounts to a dark chocolate and blackberry candy wraps up the experience in what is another great expression of what higher altitude Syrah can do in Washington State.

Bursting at the seams with bright fruit flavor, this Palencia Albariño gives a flavor profile of ripe cantaloupe, apricot, and honeydew melon. Following with citrus & lemon zest flavors that are framed with bright minerality that coats and refreshes the palate. After harvest the grapes were fermented separately for 30 days in Hungarian oak puncheons then blended together before bottling. Enjoy the Galicia style lingering mineral notes chilled with your favorite seafood & salads. Salud!
